How to get started

TELUS Text to Landline is automatically available to all TELUS text messaging users without an additional subscription or monthly subscription fees. When you send a text message to an eligible landline destination your home phone text service message will be converted to a recorded English or French voice message. The message will be sent to the addressed landline recipient.

How does it work?

  • From your mobile phone, enter the recipient’s 10-digit landline* phone number in the ‘To’ field, as you would with a regular text message, then type your message and press ‘Send.’ It’s that easy.
  • After the recipient's address is found to be a landline destination, your text message will be recorded** in an English or French female voice (depending on the language of your text message).
  • The recipient's phone will ring. If the phone is answered, a recorded message will indicate to the listener that a home phone text service message has been sent from a TELUS mobile subscriber at [sender's phone number]. The recording of your text message will be played.
  • If the call is received by an answering machine or voice mail, the recording will be delivered to the device or service as a voicemail and the message will be deemed as successfully delivered.
  • Recipients who receive the message live will be offered the opportunity to reply to the text message with a voice recording
  • You will be able to retrieve the recipient's voice reply at a toll-free number provided to you in a text message announcing that the recipient has replied to your Text to Landline message. To listen to the recipient's voice reply, all you need to do is “CALL BACK” the toll-free phone number on the text message.
