Basic services: Call waiting

Call Waiting

Use Call Waiting to avoid missing calls when you're on the phone.

When another call comes in, Call Waiting alerts you with two fast beeps. You either accept the second incoming call or let it to go straight to voice mail. Either way, you never miss a call.

Call Waiting works with Call Display, so you can see who is calling before deciding to interrupt your first call.

When you use Call Waiting and engage two callers, you incur separate airtime charges for both calls.

You can disable Call Waiting for those calls you don't want interrupted. Call Waiting is automatically disabled when you are on one of the following types of calls: 411, 611, 911, or a data call.

Using Call Waiting

  1. When you're on the phone and hear the two fast beeps, press SEND (key can vary) to answer the incoming call. Your first call is put on hold and you can talk to your new call.
  2. Press SEND to alternate between calls.
  3. To end one of the calls, ask that caller to hang up and press SEND to talk to the remaining caller.
  4. To end both calls, press END (key can vary).

Disabling Call Waiting for one call

  1. Dial *70 and then the area code and phone number. If it is a long distance call, dial 1 before the area code.
  2. Press SEND.

Call Waiting is disabled for this call and your callers hear a busy tone. Call Waiting is reinstated after you hang up.
