Monitoring Usage

TELUS offers easy ways to help you monitor your monthly data usage so you don’t exceed your limit.

• Data Notifications send automatic usage text messages (SMS)
• Log into Your Account and see your current data usage
• Connection manager software comes pre-installed on your Mobile Internet Key

If you find that you’re going over your included data, you can:

• continue to pay for your additional usage on a monthly basis
• change the rate plan you’re on to one that better suits your lifestyle. TELUS clients can change their rate plans free of charge up to once per billing cycle.

Tracking your data usage is now easier than ever

You can now receive data notifications to help you manage data usage. Effective immediately, you will receive automatic text messages (SMS) from TELUS Data Notifications to keep you up-to-date. It’s simple, and it’s free!

How does data notification work?

Whether you use a mobile phone, smartphone, or a Mobile Internet Key, TELUS will send you an SMS notification when you’re close to using all of the data included in your monthly rate plan/add-on feature or on your way to incurring overage.

How does TELUS help you manage your data?

Data Notifications help you to make the right usage decisions so you can adjust your data package to reflect your changing needs. Text notifications are timely, giving you plenty of notice to make usage decisions. Are you regularly receiving an SMS message notifying you that you’re near your data limit? If so, it may be time for you to update your plan. At TELUS we have a wide range of data plans to help meet your changing usage and needs. If you have a data package: We’ll let you know when you’ve reached 75% and 95% (if applicable) of your data limit, so you can change your data package or adjust your usage accordingly.

If you are using data pay per-use: We’ll let you know when you’ve used $10 and then if applicable, $50. You can then decide to add to your data limit or adjust your usage accordingly.

Viewing your data usage online

• Log in to your Your Account, and select View Data Usage
• Select All from the Services field
• Select the period (e.g., 7 days back or date range) and click Search
• The results appear below the Search section
• To view total data used to date in the current billing cycle, enter in the first day of the billing cycle until the present day

Using the Connection Manager

You can monitor your data usage right from your connection manager. Here’s how you can track usage on your Huawei E182E Mobile Internet Key.

• Click on the connection manager’s Statistics tab to view your total daily, monthly, and yearly uploaded and downloaded data on your Mobile Internet Key
• You can also view your total upload and download data usage here
• Select Set Limit to change the data usage tracking options

 

The period start date is set to the beginning of the month by default.
Tip: For more accurate data usage tracking, change the date to the beginning of your bill cycle.

You can also change the Data volume limit to the amount of included data in your plan. For example, if you have a 1 GB plan, enter 1000 MB. Your connection manager will notify you when you have reached the set limit.

Using your Sierra Wireless Watcher® Window

You can monitor your data usage with the Usage History function in the Watcher®

 

• Click Tools and select Call History. You can view Usage History by Data Session (see Image 1 below) to see the date, duration and amount of data used in each session. You can also view Usage History by Data Counter (see Image 2 below) to see total Received and Sent data since a certain date.
