Update your preferred roaming list to obtain the latest network information.

What you need to know

  • We update our roaming list software as our network coverage expands throughout North America.

  • Our preferred roaming list (PRL) software is updated to reflect upgrades in coverage, network availability, calling areas, and services.

  • To benefit from these upgrades, update the PRL software on your phone.

  • PRL software updates are available only within Canada. If you plan on travelling to the U.S., update your PRL before leaving Canada.

  • PRL software updates are available online in a majority of TELUS coverage areas. In the following areas, visit a TELUS store for a PRL update:

    • Manitoba (outside Winnipeg)

    • Thunder Bay ON

    • Prince Rupert SK

Update roaming software on your phone or smartphone

For the best possible travel experience, we recommend that you update the roaming software installed on your phone or smartphone before you leave Canada.

Preferred roaming list (PRL) software is often updated to reflect upgrades in coverage, network availability, calling areas, and services.

  1. Place a call to *22803.
  2. Select one of the following:
    • Press 1 for service in English.
    • Press 2 for service in French.
  3. Press 2 to update your PRL software.
  4. When programming is completed, a confirmation voice message plays.
  5. End the call and follow any on-screen prompts.
    NOTE: Your phone may restart.
