Switching to TELUS

You want to go where the going is good? Transfer your phone number over to TELUS and enjoy great plans, cool phones, and the largest network.

Most land line and mobile numbers can be transferred, as long as we have wireless service in your area and your number is within the same local calling area.

Share plan holders can transfer one or several numbers. Existing TELUS customers can transfer their land line number to their Mobility account or vice versa.

Before transferring

Before transferring your phone number to TELUS Mobility, you need the following items:

• An active local phone number (home or cell, but not pager), but DON’T cancel your number since this process will take care of this
• Your phone number must be in your name as only the authorized account holder can transfer a number
• An invoice from your current provider, preferably the most recent one
• If possible, your service agreement, which we encourage you to review to determine if there are any cancellation fees involved in ending your agreement early
• If a transferring a mobile phone number, have your phone on hand. If you bring it to a TELUS store, we can help transfer your contacts and address book to your new phone

After transferring

After transferring your phone number to TELUS Mobility, you need the following items:
 

• A new TELUS mobile phone or smartphone, but we’ll help you choose the right handset and can offer competitive contract pricing
• A TELUS rate plan, which we can help you choose using your usage statistics from your previous provider, even if you were on a business pooling account

Transfer time

Once you initiate a transfer request, it takes up to 2.5 hours (between 8 am and 4:00 pm) to transfer a mobile phone number to TELUS Mobility and up to 2 business days to transfer a land line number. More complex transfers can take up to one week
