Tips and Tricks
Customize your home screen and organize your icons
- Scroll to the icon you would like to move and press the Menu key
- Click Move to highlight, then move to desired location and click on the trackpad
- You can also Move to Folder by scrolling through the list and selecting the desired folder
Multi-tasking
- Press and hold the Menu key to show a list of applications currently running
- To quickly jump between apps, use the trackpad to scroll over and select another application
Adjust sensitivity of the trackpad
- Click the Options icon
- Click Typing and Input
- Click Trackpad Sensitivity
Add an extension to a phone number
- Type the phone number
- Press the alt key and X key
- Type the extension number
Take great pictures with a scene mode that enhances the image quality
- Click the camera icon on the home screen
- Scroll to the 'Scene Mode' button on the far right and click it
- Select a scene mode that best suits the lighting condition, e.g., Face Detection
- Click on the camera button to take the picture
Pair your BlackBerry® smartphone with another device
- On the Home screen, click the Manage Connections icon
- Click Set Up Bluetooth
- Click Search
- Click a Bluetooth enabled device
- If necessary, perform one of the following actions:
- If the Bluetooth enabled device does not have a keyboard (for example, a headset), on your BlackBerry device, type the pairing passkey that is provided in the documentation that came with the Bluetooth enabled device. The passkey is most often a numeric or alpha-numeric code.
- If the Bluetooth enabled device has a keyboard (for example, a laptop), type a pairing passkey of your own choosing on both devices.
Connect your BlackBerry® smartphone with another device using NFC (Near Field Communication) technology
- On the Home screen, click the connections icon at the top of the screen, or click the Manage Connections icon
- Select the NFC checkbox to turn NFC on
- Tap the smart tag reader (on the back of your BlackBerry® smartphone) against the smart accessory/device
- If necessary, click Pair with Bluetooth. If necessary, enter your smartphone password
View and Save an NFC smart tag
- To view and save a new smart tag, tap the smart tag reader on the back of your smartphone against a smart tag.
- Click View.

- Click on the Applications folder
- Click the Smart Tags icon
- Click a smart tag to view
Use Wifi to get data
- On the Home screen, clikc the Manage Connections icon
- Click Set Up Wi-Fi Network
- Do one of the following:
- Click Scan for Networks. Click a network.
- Click Manually Add Network. Type the network name. Click Add
- Complete the instructions on the screen
- When you are prompted to save a profile for the Wi-Fi network, click Next so that your BlackBerry device connects to the Wi-Fi network automatically next time
- On the Wi-Fi Setup Complete screen, click Finish to complete the Wi-Fi connection setup
Use your BlackBerry® smartphone as a Mobile Wifi Hotspot
- On the Home screen, click the connections icon at the top of the screen, or click the Manage Connections icon
- Select the Mobile Hotspot checkbox to turn Mobile Hotspot on

Tips and Tricks
Share data from your BlackBerry® data plan
Use your BlackBerry smartphone’s existing data plan to connect your BlackBerry PlayBook to the Internet at no extra cost. Simply tether your BlackBerry® PlayBook™ to your BlackBerry phone or use the BlackBerry® Bridge™ technology.
Personalize your background
Turn your pictures into background images. Select the desired picture, swipe down from the top black border of the BlackBerry PlayBook and select “Set as Wallpaper”.
Customize your apps
From the home screen, tap “All” and swipe up from the bottom black border. Once your apps appear on the screen, hold down the app you want to move, wait until the app flashes and relocate it anywhere you want. Once you’re finished rearranging the apps, tap “All” to lock them in place.
Move all your favourite apps into the “Favourite” tab for a quick view and access to all of your must-have apps.
Multi-task with a swipe and a tap
Switch from one screen to another without having to pause your current app. Just swipe up from the bottom black border; the window you were viewing will minimize while continuing to run in the background, and the navigation bar will appear. Just tap on the app you want to access.
Quick access to all menu functions
Swipe down from the top black border to view the menu or settings for the application you are running.
Closing windows
To exit one or more programs running on your home screen, swipe up starting from the program you want to close.
Lock your screen orientation
From your home screen, tap on the top right icon 
to lock your screen in a horizontal or vertical direction.
