Using TELUS Navigator, you get audible turn-by-turn driving directions from your TELUS handset along with detailed coloured maps for any location in Canada. It’s like an advanced GPS navigation system.

Getting started with Navigator

There are four steps to getting up and running with Navigator.

  1. Ensure you have a monthly rate plan.
  2. Ensure your phone is Navigator-compatible.
  3. Subscribe to TELUS Navigator.
  4. Download Navigator to your mobile phone.

1. Ensure you have a monthly rate plan

Navigator is only available to mobile phone and smartphone users who are on a monthly rate plan. Prepaid and Mike users are ineligible.
Review our monthly rate plans to see if one appeals to you.

2. Ensure your phone is Navigator-compatible

Review this list of phones to confirm your handset is Navigator-capable:

3. Subscribe to TELUS Navigator

There are four ways to subscribe to Navigator:

  1. Using your mobile phone: Download Navigator and subscribe right from your TELUS mobile phone.
  2. Using your TELUS account: Log in and sign up for Navigator online.
  3. At an authorized TELUS dealer.
  4. By calling TELUS at 1-866-558-2273 or by dialing *611 on your handset.

4. Download Navigator to your mobile phone

Use the following procedures to download Navigator onto most phones.

  1. Launch your phone’s main menu.
  2. For LG phones, select games & apps or tools & apps.
  3. For Samsung phones, select my content or tools & apps.
  4. Select GPS services and then get new.
  5. Select TELUS Navigator and then buy now.
  6. Select the application when it is shown in My Storage and select download now.
  7. When the download has completed, select run.
  8. Accept the terms & conditions to the free trial. You are ready to start navigating.
  9. To access TELUS Navigator, go to the GPS services folder found under one of these menus – games & apps, my content, or tools & apps and select OK.

Note: Whenever prompted for GPS access permission, select always allow.

Troubleshooting/general information

If you get a GPS fix error, it is because you are either not within our GPS coverage area or you do not have clear view of GPS satellites in the sky.

Navigator usage is included in the monthly or daily subscription and does not count against your data plan allotment.

You can make and receive calls while using Navigator. However navigation is suspended during the call and Navigator will have to recalculate your directions once you end the call.

You can use the local search and maps features of Navigator indoors. However, for best performance while navigating you should be outdoors or in a vehicle.

Our GPS services are designed with your privacy and security in mind and are subject to our privacy policy. TELUS GPS services use a comprehensive suite of security arrangements to ensure safeguarding your information:

  • Your location information is communicated and stored within TELUS' secure infrastructure.
  • Location information is retained for a maximum of seven days, then deleted.
  • Location information is only collected by TELUS with your consent. Consent is either provided by downloading an application onto your mobile phone and running the application, or by logging into your TELUS account.

If there is an GPS enabled iconicon on your phone screen, it is GPS and Navigator-enabled. If you do not see this icon, your phone is not GPS enabled. You can typically manage your GPS settings through your phone’s settings menu.

If at any time you want to downgrade your subscription to a pay-per-use one:

  1. Launch the application, click on options and then select cancel subscription.
  2. Confirm cancellation of your monthly subscription.
  3. The next time you launch application, select daily to start your subscription at $3 for 24 hours.
