HTC P4000 Software Update!
Great news! A new software update for the HTC P4000 is now available. The software update is free, enabling you to take further advantage of your smartphone’s capabilities.
Why Should I Update the Software on my HTC P4000?
By updating your software, you will gain access to the new features of Window Mobile 6 along with additional improvements.
The software update will provide:
- Windows Mobile 6.1
- Improved Internet browsing - easy zooming into web pages
- Simpler e-mail and Bluetooth setup - automatically tries to pair using typical passcodes (0000, 1111, 8888, 1234)
- Easier Wi-Fi connection by a single click to your screen
- Security enhancements

- EVDO Rev A capability for enhanced and faster connectivity
- Download speeds of 450-800 kbps and upload speeds of 300-400 kbps (within local coverage areas)
Note: Approximate speeds based on network deployments in the U.S. Actual user results may vary depending on TELUS network conditions
- Location Based Services (LBS) capable
- GPS technology for Google Maps and other GPS navigation applications

Warning:
During the software update all 3rd party applications, that were not included on the device, will be erased. It is recommended that you verify all third party applications that are currently installed on your P4000 are compatible with Windows Mobile 6.1 before proceeding with the update. Once the update has been completed, you will have to re-install these applications using Mobile Device Manager for Windows Vista or ActiveSync 4.5 (or greater) for Windows XP.
Warning: By upgrading your software you will lose all data that is currently saved on your HTC P4000 including, but not limited to:
- Contacts
- Calendar events
- Tasks
- Emails (including account settings)
- Call History
- Personal documents and files
- Applications which were not included with Windows Mobile.
Ensure that you sync your P4000 with ActiveSync or Mobile Device Manager before beginning the update process.
How do I find out if I am eligible for a software update?
With the P4000 powered on, perform the following sequence to verify the software version:
- Press Start
- Select Settings
- Select System
- Press About
- If the software is Windows Mobile 6 or lower you are eligible for a software update
Requirements* Note - Windows Mobile 6 is compatible with ActiveSync 4.5 or greater. If you do not have this version (or later) installed, you will not be able to sync your P4000 once updated. |
