An important notice to our valued
TELUS customers.
On April 1, the laws in each of Quebec and Nova Scotia will require the
use of hands-free devices by drivers wishing to talk on their mobile phones.
At TELUS, we offer a wide range of hands-free accessories. Visit our Web
store to find the right accessory for your phone.
safe driving
TELUS' mobile devices give you the ability to communicate virtually anytime,
anywhere, including in your vehicle. Please remember that driving is your
first priority and don't let your phone, or anything else, distract you
from the road ahead.
Here are some safety tips to keep in mind when you take your mobile phone
along for a ride:
 |
|
 |
| 1. |
get phone friendly
Read your phone's user guide and try
out the features that can help make it safer to use on the
road. For instance, you can program your most-called numbers
and use automatic speed dial to avoid dialling every digit.
Don't program 911 - it can cause accidental emergency calls.
Tip:
Program all your phone numbers long-distance style, using
1 + area code + number. If calling a local number, your phone
dials it as a local call.
|
| 2. |
on the road
Put your TELUS mobile phone in an accessory
cradle where it is easy to see and reach without taking your
eyes off the road. Even better, have a passenger make or take
calls for you. A hands-free accessory can help ensure you keep
both hands on the wheel - visit the TELUS Web
store.
|
| 3. |
stay focused
End your call if talking distracts you
from the road - or don't answer the phone at all. Let voicemail
pick up your calls. Always remember to tell everyone you speak
with that you ARE driving, and that it's better to talk later.
|
| 4. |
you're not an
octopus
Remember, you only have two hands, so
use them to drive. If you know you'll have to make a call during
your trip, program that phone number ahead of time. If you receive
a call about important details, ask the caller to phone back
and leave a message for you to pick up later. |
| 5. |
when to call
If you must place a call, do so when
you have stopped or parked.
