TELUS Mobility introduces exclusive camera phone, unique picture messaging service
Clients can share pictures instantly, attach sounds or text, or store them in online albums

Scarborough, Ontario, October 23, 2003 - TELUS Mobility today announced both an exclusive new camera phone and a unique picture messaging service that makes taking, storing and sharing photos fast and easy.

TELUS Mobility's camera phone is the first that allows clients to share their pictures instantly - and even attach voice or text messages to them - by sending them directly to other camera phones. They can also send their photo messages to any e-mail address, store them in their own secure online photo album on TELUS Mobility's Web site or even send them to major photo finishing retailers for printing.

"TELUS Mobility camera phones are simply the best way for people to share their pictures instantly with family, friends or business colleagues. With their wireless phones at hand, our clients can just point, click and send their pictures, either to another TELUS Mobility camera phone or to any e-mail address in the world," said Wade Oosterman, TELUS Mobility's Executive Vice President of Sales & Marketing.

"The ability to store your photos in a personalized online album or even attach a voice or text message with your picture makes our service both powerful and personal. TELUS Mobility picture messaging underlines wireless phones aren't just for phone calls anymore."

Already hugely popular in Europe and Asia, camera phones are set to take off in Canada. In a recent report by respected industry magazine RCR Wireless News, new research showed global sales of camera phones hit 25 million in the first half of this year, already surpassing the sales of digital cameras. While camera phones will make up just 15% of wireless phones worldwide in 2003, penetration is expected to surpass 50% by 2006.

LG 5450: First in New Family of Camera Phones
The first in a series of exclusive camera phones from TELUS Mobility, the LG 5450 is also the first in Canada that enables clients to send and receive images with sound and text directly to other camera phones. The LG 5450 is both a fully functional tri-mode digital wireless phone and a 300k pixel digital camera with high-resolution colour screen, self timer and the ability to store up to 30 pictures. Unlike some competing products, the LG 5450 is full integrated and needs no accessories to take pictures - users just point and click. TELUS Mobility will introduce several more new camera phone models in coming months.

The LG 5450 costs $379.99 for clients signing up for month-to-month service or as little as $229.99 for clients who select a term contract. Clients pay a standard charge of 25 cents for each picture message sent from anywhere within TELUS Mobility's next generation 1X digital service area, which now covers 27.3 million people across Canada, or 87% of the population.

Using their camera phone's menu, clients can save pictures to their own online photo albums on TELUS Mobility's Web site. Storage is free for 60 days, after which clients can choose to purchase permanent storage. They can organize their pictures into slide shows and albums, customize with titles and descriptions, add links to favourite sites, output their pictures to their own printers, or send them via e-mail to major photo finishing retailers for printing.

While only clients with camera phones can view pictures and multimedia messages directly on their phones, LG 5450 users can send a text message with an Internet link to their pictures to any other digital wireless phone equipped with text messaging in North America, which allows recipients to view them on their personal computers.
