Scarborough, Ontario, June 3, 2002 - TELUS Mobility today announced the launch both of its national next generation 1X wireless network and of a new 1X mobile computing solution called Velocity Wireless, providing clients across Canada with faster and more convenient mobile access to the Internet and corporate networks.

New alliances with Citrix Systems, Inc. and Hewlett-Packard (Canada) Ltd. also announced today, coupled with a growing roster of Data Solutions Channel Partners, will support TELUS Mobility in providing corporate clients with end-to-end mobile computing solutions.

"By uniting the enhanced access speeds of Canada's first national 1X network with the power of today's portable computing products, TELUS Mobility provides clients of all kinds with complete mobile Internet service in major cities across Canada," said George Cope, president and CEO. "And we've put in place the partnerships, distribution and support structure required to mobilize the corporate enterprise with end-to-end virtual workplace solutions built around 1X."

Lucent Technologies and Nortel Networks provided TELUS Mobility with cross-Canada infrastructure solutions to create an efficient and integrated national 1X network, representing a major step in TELUS Mobility's move to full 3G (Third Generation) high-speed network services.

TELUS Mobility 1X service is now available in major cities across Canada, including Calgary, Edmonton, Halifax, Montréal, Ottawa, Québec City, Toronto and Southern Ontario, Vancouver, Victoria and Winnipeg, with service expansion across Canada and into the U.S. through a roaming agreement with partner Verizon planned throughout 2002.

As fast or faster than any wireless data service in Canada, TELUS Mobility 1X is capable of Internet access speeds as high as 144 kilobits per second (kbps) in ideal usage conditions, with typical throughput of approximately 60 kbps. The network also offers benefits such as increased call capacity and improved battery life for 1X products.

Mobile Computing with Velocity Wireless
TELUS Mobility today introduced Velocity Wireless, an all-in-one mobile computing solution that offers clients using portable PCs or PDAs easy access to the Internet, corporate networks and e-mail systems. The Velocity Wireless kit includes the AirCard 555 wireless network card from Sierra Wireless, Inc. and Internet services, such as e-mail and Web space through telus.net.

TELUS Mobility offers 1X rate plans based on data transmitted, rather than simply billing for airtime used, and charges no roaming or toll fees in Canada. Term contract discounts are also available.
